The Ice Cream Social Needs You!!

We have selected a date for the event you have been waiting for all year; Buckeye’s 2010 Ice Cream Social! The Ice Cream Social will be on June 4th, 5-8pm, so mark your calendars.

Planning efforts are well underway, especially by Beth Barry who is soliciting businesses for donations. If you would like to help with the Ice Cream Social, we can accommodate any schedule, even if you can only work from home. We are also looking for someone to head our logistics committee that is responsible for coordinating lighting, tables, extension cords, easy up tents, etc. If you can help with the Ice Cream Social you can send an email to ICS@buckeyeptc.org or call Staci Allen at 530-558-9424.

Supports the District Foundation!!

As you may already know, the recently-formed Foundation is a district-wide effort aimed at protecting vital staff and services for all 4,527 students in the Buckeye Union School District. The Foundation is working closely with the individual PTA, PTO or Foundation at each of the eight schools to identify at-risk staff and treasured programs (such as technology, music and reduced class sizes!) that the district may not be able to continue funding. By soliciting large-scale support from the business community and organizations at the regional, state and federal level, in addition to school families, the Foundation’s goal is to help protect and expand the level of “whole child” education we currently provide our students.

With ongoing statewide cuts to education anticipated, the success of this Foundation is crucial. And your help is needed! Please plan to attend the Foundation’s first big event, a wine tasting/dinner May 8th – more details will follow. For more information on the

Upcoming PTC Meeting

Wednesday, February 17th, 5:00p.m., School Library calendar

The PTC meeting is the one chance we have to bring teachers and committee parents together. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month. We generally get a report on where money has been spent and where funds are needed most. We talk about the fundraisers and other things we can do to improve our school and enrich the experience for our children. Come to the meeting and see for your self – if you’d like to participate, we’d love to have you. There’s never any pressure to volunteer.
